Jan holding Ian's speed model to which he has fitted an OS four stroke motor. To be tested !	Colerne Oct 28th - Jan replacing the scuffed prop on his Veco 35 powered vintage speed model. Over 100mph on his 5th flight. Very brave in 20mph winds !

Brian Perkins ( SBMAC chairman from the 70s ) recently managed to pay a visit to Colerne and see the club still exists!	Visitors Peter and Christine Finch with son Stuart ( who is holding Peter's 'Lovely Lady' which he brought to Berkeley for test flights ).Out of focus photo due to D1000 fuel smeared on lens!	"Quick - get out there before the engine overheats" Some action from the speed brigade at Colerne.
Just how many men does it take to breath life into a recalcitrant Merco 35?	John Mayes with John Bond and the F/F shield which has been rebadged as the 'John Mayes Challenge Shield' in recognition of the support John M has provided to the club over its 70 years!	A senator drifts by - Colerne on October 20th - a beautiful autumn day.
Mick has a break from trying to get three AM35s running after many years ! The engine he used for his first combat flight - a few years ago!!

2017 Control-line Nats.

John Mealing was flying his OS60 powered Ryan STA. He also brought along a hi-start glider . It's from a kit but he doesn't know the name - does anyone recognise it ( its a sort of pod and boom with a scale looking cockpit cover ). Geoff Cole had a landing mis-hap with his large 45 powered model so made up with lots of nice flights of this EDF Sabre.

Peter Rabjohn wins Vintage Speed ( with new record ) and Digby Perriam picks up 2nd place also.	Club junior Tom Smith wins Junior Mini-Goodyear event ( with Grandad Pete Jephcott - who missed the photo shoot). Set new BMFA finals record time of 9m45s.	SBMAC member Tony Parton-Frost wins the Vintage combat event.
Dave and Geoff Hanks win the Senior mini-Goodyear event ( but Geoff had to leave before the prizegiving).	Tony with the 'Dream team' of Richard Evans and Karl Severne. Unbeatable!	Dani also flew in the mini-Goodyear event ( seen here with Paul Harris who did sterling work as pitman at very short notice).

Short notice Colerne meeting Sept 2nd

Dave's OD speed model - its first outing. Expected it to go home in binbag - but no! Flew steadily but needs a few mods and more suitable prop.	Jim's Halfax Spartan - first outing. 1940's Movo D2 2cc engine. Motor initially seemed keen to only run in reverse!	Martin getting the Movo D2 to behave itself. then over to Peter for trial flights. Needed 1/2" of packing under elevator - but then flew beautifully.
Yes - this isn't on the airfield ! Jim's model after a smashing 'old time' flight and landing.	Waiting ominously at the end of the row where Jim's model sat.	Just 2 minutes later tractor passes over where model had been.
Geoff's 0.25cc Oliver Tiger in Daves OD free flight model - awaiting first outing. Flew well and landed just 30'inside airfield boundary

Aaron Schmitz ( from Germany) checks out the opposition prior to the Mini-Goodyear junior final. Later Aaron unfortunately suffered a broken fuselage at 129 laps	Tom and Pete get ready for the junior final. Connor's father gets his model away after a bit of a struggle with a recalcitrant motor!	In the junior final Connor flies on for third place.	In the senior final Derek Cannon gets in some laps whilst Dave is having a short struggle with Geoff's motor.
Dave finally gets Geoffs model away. Thereafter it behaved itself reasonably well!	Pete Cannon struggles to restart their PAW . Eventually retiring on 96 laps. Some form of fuel feed problem that was never really resolved.	Now it's Derek's turn to wait whilst Geoof gets in some laps.
Over in the vintage speed area Alistair and David work on getting their engine running properly. What - no wing!	Digby prepares his model whilst the onlookers put the world to rights.

At Berkeley on 17th September

Entrants in the Mini-Goodyear competition - note clear blue sky!	Entrants in HLG and catapult glider competition - a low cost , satisfying and relaxing (but challenging ) event to enter.

Quite a good response from the combat 'boys'. Mick .Nick , Tony , Malcolm and Darryl.	Darryl running up the motor in his Yuvenko F2D model - with 2 more spares in the foreground.	Nick getting in some practice. Note windsock - a bit of breeze but better than forecasted.
Two nicely finished vintage speed models a Little Rocket and a Mile Master with a Dooling 29	A much repaired Mike Billington 4 stroke speed model. Not yet flown successfully - would today be the day?	Yes . Mike's model flying. Mike was not well enough to attend but hopefully someone will get this photo to him.
A few more models awaiting their turn on the tarmac.	Tony ground running his motor. Let's hope it doesn't throw a blade!	Digby's Dizzy Boy. Kept throwing the prop off until he changed the insert on his starter to better cope with that pointed spinner.
Everything stops for lunch. Time for a cup of tea and a natter.

Steve Kimsey brought along two Amco .87's one largely built by his father, the other had been converted to glow!! but is now back to diesel.	Martin with just a small number of the hoard he brought along - includes Dyno replica,Sparey and Simplex Hornet

Tony - 4th place in vintage combat. All in all a great day for SBMAC participation. Here's wishing them all an equally successful 2018 !

Indoor at Thornbury Leisure Centre October 29th

Trying to reach his model that is stuck on a ceiling fitting. I guess maximum reach can equal maximum pain?	The ladies in their corner spot - safe from out of control indoor models!	Maybe just a few more turns ? Now I've made him forget how many turns he'd already put on!

Peter goes to check his model at the end of the race. This model is the original club design for this class.	The two teams after the final. Waiting to get to the bar to warm up out of the cold wind ? No photos of the flying as photographer Steve was busy helping out with the timekeeping.	Mick has completed his 100 laps and Peter flies out his last few laps to finish.

Alastair launches Dani's model for a quick practice in the MGYR event.	Alastair gets ready for the next pit-stop.	Dave goes for a rather forceful launch in the MGYR final.

My table of models ( looking a bit blurred !). Managed to fly all of them successfully . But then charged the Tomboy capacitor backwards. Didn't notice 'til it went vertically down on launch and broke the motor!	Paul & Ollie ( father & son) who kindly invited us to a couple of hours of flying at this very nice site. Same size as the area we use at Thornbury but nicer higher ceiling.	Martin winding his BMFA Dart for another flight.
Several largish RC aerobatic models also being flown - but in a very gentlemanly way without affecting us.

Alastair piloting his Russian Oliver powered Phantom for a time of 24.25 seconds .	The cold weather didn't stop the combat 'boys ( & girls )' from turning out for a natter and some practice.	David Farmer giving his Frog 2.49 a final tweak.

All that sunshine and he chooses to test his engine out in the shade ! Note the Berkeley micro - climate!	Running nicely now ! An Oliver Tiger replica in a smart new Phantom model.. Now looking forward to the next Phantom session.	Mervyn with his new capacitor powered model. The model is based on the BMFA Dart but bigger and more sophisticated. He also has one that is rubber powered.The cap powered one flies nicely but does not have the performance of the rubber version.
A varied selection of capacitor powered models - includes 33% Tomboy , 20% Tomboy,converted glider, duration model , twin boom pusher , Dart and new canard model.	5pm , sunshine , no wind and 9 degrees - who would have imagined that?

Mick concentrates on keeping his R/C model on a smooth flight path!	Mervyn takes a rest from 'glidering!' whilst John winds his Hangar Rat's motor.	Martin gets some more turns on his 'Serene' foam duration model.

Jim with his previously untested Keilkraft Pirate or Bandit ? This was just before the very sharp new prop bit him deep on the thumb and ended his day's activity!	Dave's motley collection of models. A couple were not flown due to high thermal activity and no D/Ts!	Stephen brought up his own design speed trainer model to run up the engine - we soon realised why he didn't run it in his back garden!
