Tiger Rat

Following discussions with the Combat team they suggested that a simple team race class based on the Oliver Tiger engine would be a route to some across competition disciplines (e.g Combat & team race) within the club. After thought I propose the following, to form the basis of the class.

Model: Dave Clarkson's A Rat is the datum model. Its main dimensions shall be taken as the minimum for the class.

 Wing area 100sq in minimum.

 Tail area 40sq in minimum.

All aircraft are to have a separate tail plane, no FAI style wings.

The contest director’s decision is final regarding the eligibility of any model.

Undercarriage (not mandatory): Wheel diameter 2in minimum. No limitations on number of wheels, however the aircraft must be capable of taking off from the ground.

Engine: Any Oliver Tiger, real or replica, no limit to tuning.

Lines: 49ft 5in radius, model centreline to front of handle grip, 0.3mm multistrand wire

Races: Heats 100laps 1 compulsory pit stop

Finals 200laps 3 compulsory pit stops

Cut-out: A working cut-out shall be fitted to the model for safety purposes. It may be used in the race.

Fuel Tank: No limit on capacity. Refuelling by squash bottle only. The tank must be filled at each pit stop.

Race Conduct: BMFA Vintage Team Racing rules will be applied.

Propeller: Any commercially available thermoplastic or nylon
